an homage to the life I chose and my son who requested I “grow a wizard’s beard”. A shout out to the musicians Jason Anderson and Jake Bellows. A brief reference to Dungeons & Dragons amidst a ballad about my love for music as a form of art.

When I heard Jason sing I felt his words make a deep change in me
I saw my life in how I wanted it to be
I threw all caution to the wind and I gathered up my melodies
I weaved my words into a symphony, a light

But it's a lonely life, a traveling mendicant, no bride
But you keep that lantern lit, refuse to hide
And though the smallest chance, they may do more than just dance
Gently place in words to make them think

When I first heard Jake sing I found his melodies so comforting
I heard words that helped me realize I am free
But some creatures are immune with their deafness to a tune
Or maybe they're more than aloof, fey ancestry

But when your son requests that you grow a wizard's beard
And you realize you already cast spells
And that the light you share, the means to show you care
It's not a magic trick to show your love
